Stamford Eparchy Church Bulletin Buffalo Deanery
Dearest Parishioners and friends
of St. Basil's:
Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory
forever!
Beloved I write to you with a heavy
heart. The horrific massacre in Connecticut left me overwhelmed... The pain an
the sorrow of parents losing a child is great, but losing a child under such
circumstances must be beyond horrific. Please pray for these souls and the for
those left behind to pick up the pieces. May Divine Consolation be theirs in
deed.
Here is the only bulletin you will see
until the new year. Check the times for services and don't assume it will be
what was last year, as I have other obligations. In my trying to give myself as
fully as possible often I encounter well intention people warning me not to burn
the candle at both ends. I never knew how to excuse my commitment, this week I
found a wonderful reflection by no other than Bishop Fulton Sheen: "Burning the candle at both ends for God's sake
may be foolishness to the world, but it is a profitable Christian exercise-for
so much better the light. Only one thing in life matters. Being found worthy of
the Light of the World in the hour of His visitation. We need have no undue fear
for our health if we work hard for the kingdom of God; God will take care of our
health if we take care of His cause. In any case it is better to burn out than
to rust out".
I hope you have a great St. Philips fast
journey and a wonderful celebration of Christmas. Make sure you take time to
come to a good confession during these days.
Yours as
always,
Fr. Robert
